It's week 2 in Photo Academy and we're continuing to learn about photo composition and design. On Monday we had a lesson about Line and started an ABC Photo project. Students looked for 'line' in different areas around our classroom, in the building and outside - that would make the letters of their name. Their challenge was to not 'build' the letter with objects, but rather change what was in the 'frame' of their camera to create the line. (Some examples will be posted soon!) Students continued to work on their photo journals in book creator. **Links to student books will be posted by Wednesday morning. Please keep in mind the students will be continuing to work on their journals so more details will be added each day until our class is over. On Tuesday we had a lesson about Texture and Pattern. Students learned about how to find places where changing a perspective or changing what's in the frame can highlight the 'texture' of an object. Patterns, created by some kind of repetition, can also make a picture more interesting. Students will apply these elements and lessons on our field trip on Thursday. Our second half of Tuesday we had a special guest - Skye Devoe - a photographer from the Owatonna area who specializes in taking portraits around southern Minnesota. Check out her website to view her work: https://www.skyesthelimitphotography.com Tomorrow we have a mini field trip to Makally Photography Studio in Maple Grove, MN! Jodi Elkins is the photographer and studio owner and will show us how she uses her studio when she takes pictures. It should be a fun morning! https://www.skyesthelimitphotography.com/
